We’re pleased to announce that we’re going to be re-opening onboarding for our Exec product to existing drivers in London in the next few weeks. As lockdown continues to ease in the UK and travel for both business and tourism starts up again, we want to give riders the option of enjoying an improved premium experience. We expect that rider demand for Exec services is going to increase, which is why we’ll be upgrading select eligible drivers in the coming weeks.
How do I know if I qualify for Exec?
If you’re currently a driver on UberX or Comfort (or both) in London, in order to qualify for Exec, you will need to meet three requirements:
- A minimum of 1000 trips
- A consistent driver rating of 4.9 or higher
- An Exec-eligible vehicle that was made in 2016 or later
Current Exec drivers in London with older vehicle models (e.g. Mercedes Benz E-class 2015) can drive on Exec until 1 July 2022. To remain on Exec, these partners will need to upgrade their vehicle by 1 July 2022. In 2023, vehicles will need to be registered in 2017 or later to be eligible for Exec in London.
How can I upgrade to Exec?
We’re changing our upgrade process to be automated, so you’ll no longer need to visit a Greenlight Hub in person. Similar to Comfort, if you meet the above requirements, you’ll automatically be enrolled in Exec and will be able to see it in your driver preferences.
What’s expected of an Exec driver?
To help deliver a consistent, quality service, all Exec drivers are expected to maintain a consistent driver rating of 4.9 or higher.
Riders using Exec appreciate an elevated service that goes beyond a great car and impeccable manners, so we hope that as an Exec driver, you’ll deliver a service that exceeds rider expectations! While you’re not required to do any of the following, we know that riders enjoy certain elements of a premium experience, so some of the ideas below may help you improve your rating or potentially increase your tips.
- Meet and greet
Greeting riders by name, assisting with any luggage and opening the door can make a great first impression.
- Sparkling clean
Professional clothing and a clean, well maintained and ventilated car shows professionalism and promises a comfortable ride.
- Creature comforts
Bottles of water, peppermints or handy access to a phone charger reflects attention to detail.
- It’s personal
Being intuitive to your rider’s needs will help you deliver a tailored service. From extra leg room and music requests, to quiet discretion—riders will appreciate it.
- Rider preferences
When requesting a trip, riders will be able to communicate if they would prefer a quiet trip or if they would like to chat. In addition, they can indicate their preferred temperature and whether or not they have luggage, making it easier for drivers to personalise their service.
Safety
Whenever you’re driving, please remember to follow safety precautions to help minimise the spread of COVID-19:
- Wear a face covering while driving, unless you are exempt
- Sanitise your hands and your vehicle at regular intervals and between trips
- Remind riders to use the back seat in order to maintain social distancing
Can I upgrade to Lux?
Being upgraded to an Exec driver means you’re one step closer to driving on our highest-end product, Lux. Lux is an exclusive service available to a small percentage of Uber drivers. Onboarding to Lux is currently paused, but we are evaluating the growth potential of Lux and will keep drivers updated with any changes. For the time being, in order to drive on Lux, you will first have to drive on Exec.
FAQs
- What is the eligibility criteria to upgrade to Uber Exec?
In order to meet the Exec onboarding criteria, you need to have completed a minimum of 1000 trips and maintain a consistent driver rating of 4.9 or higher.
At this time, only partners who have an Exec-eligible vehicle registered after 2016 will be eligible to drive on Exec.
- If I purchase an Exec vehicle now, can I then upgrade to Exec?
Down Small It is entirely your decision whether to upgrade your vehicle or not. If you do decide to upgrade, and you meet the rating criteria and lifetime trips requirements, you’ll automatically become eligible to drive on Exec. Once you meet the requirements, the changes to your account can take up to 72 hours. Bear in mind, however, that we don’t offer any guarantee of a set level of earnings beyond ensuring that every driver is paid the National Living Wage for the time they spend driving to trips and on trips.
It’s important to note that our data shows (both pre and post the pandemic) that Exec drivers who also elect to take trips on other products (such as Comfort or UberX) consistently earn more overall than Exec drivers who only accept Exec trips.
- What vehicles are accepted on Uber Exec?
Down Small The vehicles that are currently being accepted on Uber Exec are outlined in the table below. All models must be registered in 2016 or later.
Audi A8 Audi A6 Audi A7 BMW 5-series BMW 7-series BMW 6-series BMW 5-Series 530e BMW 6-series Gran Coupe Chrysler 300 Jaguar XJ Jaguar X-Type Jaguar XF Lexus LS Mercedes-Benz E-Class Mercedes-Benz S-Class Mercedes-Benz E 220 Tesla Model S Tesla Model X Volvo S60 - I’ve been with Uber for many years but some people have been given the opportunity to upgrade and I haven’t - what is the reason for this?
Down Small We are striving to make the criteria for our Exec drivers as clear and as fair as possible. From now on, the upgrade process will be automatic as long as you meet the standards outlined above. Uber reserves the right to change these standards depending on both rider and driver needs. If the standards change in the future we will make sure to inform you ahead of time.
- If I upgrade to Exec, can I also complete UberX and/or Comfort trips?
Down Small Exec partners can complete Exec, Uber Comfort and UberX trips. You can toggle them on and off within the Driver Preference section in your app.
- I meet the Exec requirements but I don’t see an Exec option in my Driver Preferences - what should I do?
Down Small If you meet the rating criteria of 4.9, lifetime trips requirements of 1000+ and have an active Exec vehicle, you’ll automatically become eligible to drive on Exec. Once you meet the requirements, the changes to your account can take up to 72 hours. If 72 hours have passed and you still don’t see the Exec option in your Uber app, please log out and log back in again, and if that does not work please uninstall and then reinstall the app. If the issue persists, please contact support through the Help section in your app and we can assist you.
- My vehicle is an executive/luxury vehicle. Can you add my vehicle to the list of eligible vehicles?
Down Small The vehicles that are currently eligible for Exec are listed above. If you don’t have one of these vehicles, you can’t upgrade to Exec right now. We plan to revise this vehicle list on a regular basis, and will be adding new electric vehicles to the list in the next few months as well.
