Fares exclude gratuity, and the provision of gratuity is at the discretion of Delivery Recipients. Uber will not deduct any portion of your gratuity, except as outlined in the Uber Fare Addendum. If a gratuity is provided through our app, it will be included with other entitled earnings. Delivery Recipients can’t offer a gratuity before completion and can adjust or remove it post-delivery, excluding the Uber Direct platform. Preset gratuity options range from 10% to 30% or $2 to $6. Changes in the order total will affect the preset gratuity. Custom gratuity amounts are allowed, and there’s no limit, except on Uber Direct, where it’s capped at $1,000 per delivery. Cash gratuities are neither discouraged nor prohibited.

Starting Tuesday, October 13, we’re introducing upfront pricing in Quebec. Before booking a trip with upfront pricing, riders are shown the price they’ll pay at the end of the ride, and not an estimated price range. The result? Riders feel more confident taking trips when they have the information to make better decisions and drivers get more opportunities to earn. In fact, we’ve seen in other Canadian cities that riders are more likely to take a trip when they know the total cost before requesting, especially during busy times.
