Uber announced its 7 latest initiatives in Egypt as it continues to fulfill its commitment to support the community during the Covid-19 pandemic, including partnerships with Ahl Masr Foundation, the Egyptian Red Crescent, and Venture Lifestyle. Continuing its commitment to support the medical sector, Uber has partnered with Tabibi, and has added 5 new hospitals to its initiative in coordination with the Ministry of Health, that provides frontliners with free trips, now supporting a total of 9 hospitals.

Ahmed Khalil, General Manager of Uber Egypt commented: “Driven by a growing sense of social responsibility, we focused on partnering with community foundations to help mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on vulnerable communities. We are always on the lookout for opportunities to support the society, fulfilling our global pledge to move what matters. We will continue working closely with various parties and contributing Uber’s technology to accommodate the rising needs of the society, while focusing on the safety measures that will help curb the rise of the virus.”

Fulfilling its commitment announced in April to support frontliners in 4 quarantine hospitals in Cairo and Alexandria, Uber has extended its support to the medical sector with free and discounted rides to include staff at the two As-Salam International Hospitals, two Dar Al Fouad Hospitals, and the Saudi German Hospital. In addition, Uber has also collaborated with Tabibi, the 24/7 private healthcare service provider, to provide its staff with discounted trips, facilitating home visits to patients in need of medical care.

Uber partnered with the Egyptian Red Crescent to help medical volunteers and workers move freely in their journey to contain and fight COVID-19. The company supported 2000 volunteers with access to transportation by providing 4,000 free trips.

In collaboration with Ahl Masr, the foundation dedicated in treating, preventing and researching trauma and burn injuries, in addition to supervising 3 quarantine hospitals, Uber provided logistical support by offering more than 1,000 free trips for 70 agents to help them collect donations for existing patients.

During the month of Ramadan, Uber Bus had partnered with Venture Lifestyle to launch Arabeyet El Kheir (Charity Car) to facilitate the distribution of 100,000 hot meals and 600 food bags to less fortunate communities.

The 7 partnerships come as part of Uber’s global pledge, with the objective of supporting healthcare workers and communities in need to Move What Matters, and to support the public authorities and cities as they work to stem the COVID-19 pandemic.
