Delivery partner insurance

Uber maintains commercial auto insurance on your behalf to help protect you in case of a covered accident while making a delivery through the Uber app. Here’s how it works.

Delivery insurance

Ontario and Quebec

Ontario

The commercial auto insurance that Uber maintains on your behalf when you’re on a delivery trip by car in Ontario is provided by Intact Insurance. That insurance includes the following protection in case a covered accident occurs between accepting a delivery and reaching the delivery destination:

$2 million liability coverage: Covers your liability to third parties from the moment you accept an Uber Eats delivery request until its conclusion.

$2 million of uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage: Protects you for injuries caused by a hit-and-run driver, an uninsured driver, or a driver without sufficient insurance.

Contingent collision and comprehensive coverage: Covers loss or physical damage to your vehicle up to the actual cash value of the vehicle with a $1,000 deductible. This coverage only applies if the vehicle is also insured for collision and comprehensive coverage on your personal auto policy.

Statutory Ontario Accident Benefits

Coverage between trips Uber also maintains commercial auto insurance on your behalf during the time that you are available through the Uber app but have not yet accepted a delivery request. When applicable, the insurance provides $1 million of third party liability coverage and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage along with all of the other coverages listed above.

Quebec

Uber maintains auto insurance on behalf of Quebec partners. That insurance is provided by Intact Insurance and includes the following protection in case of a covered accident:

$1 million civil liability coverage per incident: Covers your civil liability to third parties from the moment you log in to the Uber app until the moment you log off.

Contingent Coverages: Insures loss or physical damage to your vehicle if you have the coverage on your own personal auto policy. The coverage and deductible payable by you are those included in your personal auto policy.

Delivery insurance

Alberta and Nova Scotia

Alberta

When you’re on a food delivery by car, your liability to third parties is insured by a $2 million insurance policy for a covered accident. It insures covered incidents that occur between accepting a trip and reaching the trip destination. The coverage is provided by Intact Insurance and includes:

$2 million of third party liability coverage per incident: This insures a driver partner’s liability to third parties from the moment a driver accepts an Uber Eats trip until its conclusion for a covered accident.

Alberta Statutory Accident Benefits

Uninsured motorist coverage per incident: If another motorist causes an accident with a driver partner’s vehicle and that motorist doesn’t carry insurance or cannot be identified, this policy insures bodily injury to all occupants of the vehicle involved in a covered accident.

Collision and Comprehensive Coverage: This insures covered loss or physical damage to the driver partner’s vehicle up to the actual cash value of the vehicle with a $1,000 deductible.

Coverage between trips: During the time that a driver partner is available through the Uber Driver app but has not yet accepted a trip, we maintain commercial auto insurance on behalf of driver partners consisting of $1 million of third party liability for a covered accident in the event that the driver partner’s own insurer denies coverage. Statutory accident benefits and uninsured motorist coverage are also included.
