Aussies united in a nationwide show of generosity across the weekend, donating an estimated 125,000kgs of clothing in just one day as part of the Uber x Australian Red Cross Clothing Drive. This record marks the biggest Clothing Drive since it started seven years ago and a 56% increase in donations since 2024.

On Saturday 18th October, the Clothing Drive made it easy for Australians to donate high-quality clothing directly from their doorsteps via the Uber and Uber Eats apps, using Uber Courier to deliver items to Uber x Red Cross clothing drop-off sites free of charge.

Over the course of six hours, close to 11,000 Uber Courier trips were booked, facilitating the collection and delivery of pre-loved quality clothes for the clothing drive, including select pieces by Australian singer, swimmer and fashion icon – Cody Simpson.

Emma Foley, Managing Director of Uber Australia and New Zealand, says, “It’s been incredible to see Australians come together for such a meaningful cause. A huge thank you to everyone who donated and to our amazing volunteers – the response to this year’s drive has been overwhelming. Aussies showed incredible generosity, and it’s inspiring what can happen when giving is made easier through the Uber and Uber Eats apps. We’re proud to partner with Australian Red Cross once again to breathe new life into quality clothing that helps fund critical programs across the country.”

Richard Wood, Head of Australian Red Cross Retail, says, “A huge thank you to everyone for being part of this year’s Uber x Red Cross Clothing drive. By donating your quality pre-loved pieces, you’ve said goodbye to some of your favourite style eras – making space for someone else to discover theirs. We’re so grateful you’ve entered your own donation era, and we hope it’s just the beginning. Your quality items will soon find new life in our shops, and the proceeds will go a long way in supporting Australian Red Cross’ vital humanitarian programs in Australia and further afield.”

The donated clothing is now being sorted and sold in Australian Red Cross Shops around the country, with funds raised from the sales going directly towards supporting vital services and programs in Australia and abroad.
