Primo is the creation of Iza Dawkins and Jamie McBride. Jamie always wanted to open a pizza place and Iza wanted to create another one after Shawcross. (also available on UberEATS)

Jamie’s dad owned Romeo’s on Toorak Road for 20 years and you may know him from Richmond cafe Touchwood, Mammoth in Armadale and his more recent venture of Gilson on the Botanic Gardens.

Iza Dawkins is equally credentialed, with a background in copywriting and advertising. Working in bars in New York he honed his skills and developed an obsession for good service.

“Essentially our philosophy at Primo is to use locally sourced food in the only way we know: with fun and creativity. Our menu is a mash of classic dishes and ones that we’ve made our own.” Iza said.

You can see the creativity in dishes like their take on the Hawaiian which is topped with Christmas ham and vodka pineapple. A dish we can all appreciate, especially once our fridges are emptied of leftover Christmas ham.

Primo also takes classic dishes that aren’t Italian and makes them Italian: a swiss roll that tastes like tiramisu, gingerbread soft serve and a salad on a pizza.
