Thanks to George Calombaris and the team at MAdE Establishment, in Melbourne you don’t need to travel far to satisfy your Greek food cravings.

Gazi, Hellenic Republic and The Press Club are the venues synonymous with Calombaris and dining in Melbourne, but it’s Jimmy Grants ever expanding presence that has proved a standout in redefining fast food.

Opening their first venue in Fitzroy in 2013, Jimmy Grants now have five locations across Melbourne. It’s taken the stereotype of the greasy late night souva and transformed that into a modern dietary staple suitable for all times of day.

Fast food has developed a certain stigma of being unhealthy, quick and therefore constructed without care and quality, a stigma George was keen to avoid in the creation of Jimmy Grants.

“Food to us is all about quality, we want the food to be quick because we understand the time constraints of modern day life…but we have to maintain the quality.” George said.

That philosophy is evident in their signature souva the Mr Papadopolous – which starts with tender slow-roasted lamb that’s complemented by mustard aioli, onions, parsley and chips, all of which is then wrapped in a homemade soft pita.

The chips have not be treated as an afterthought, with seasoning of feta, garlic, oil and oregano they are a must have addition to any meal.

As a launch partner on UberEATS, with a menu people love, it’s no surprise that both the Fitzroy and Richmond locations have enjoyed great success on the platform

“The amount (of orders) has exceeded expectations, I can say that confidently about Jimmy Grants and even Gazi.”  Calombaris said.

George has also been impressed by UberEATS rapid expansion and the subsequent addition of Hellenic Republic to the platform.

“I love the Uber brand and we’d love to have all Jimmy Grants on UberEATS in the not too distant future.” Calombaris said.

With a recent investment in Jimmy Grants by a fund set up by Swisse vitamins chief executive Radek Sali the company is looking forward to further expansion in the next 3-5 years.
