As a proud Queenslander I’m always delighted to see restaurants from my home state feature in the Uber Eats app, so it is obviously a proud moment to be able to connect more people to the delicious cuisine of north eastern Australia.

My team and I are turning on the Uber Eats app in Mackay and Rockhampton to complement the Uber Rides app – which is already thriving here.

It is yet another sweet milestone for Queensland restaurants who can find another way to shine by connecting with new audiences through the app.

It’s also an exciting development for families who will have more choice, convenience and opportunities to earn on our freshly hatched Uber Rewards platform, where customers can earn points at home, interstate or overseas on eligible rides and orders with Uber.

Finally, and just as importantly, there are also new avenues for delivery partners who can connect with restaurants looking to service a hungry population.

Although Rockhampton and Mackay are 300 kilometres apart they represent a significant link in our cities map which now dots the Queensland coastline like glittering pearls. Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast are now all sparkling on the Uber Eats app.

As of today Queensland locations account for 1 in 3 cities available on the Uber Eats app, giving homegrown restaurants in regional towns, the suburbs and the city an opportunity to access new customers and to test a fresh way of bringing locals the food they love.

As we close in on a quarter century of cities available on the Uber Eats app, we’ve learned a lot about turning on our tech in new markets, but the most crucial element to ensure success for restaurants, delivery partners and users is ensuring there are quality dining options available on the app on day one.

With that in mind Mackay will launch with 20+ restaurants – including Coco Cubano, Brodies Chicken and Burgers, Flavours of Vietnam, Oliver & Stuchbury’s and Moss on Wood.  Rockhampton will have even more including Masala Indian Cuisine, TruFusion Indian Bar & Grill and The Barbecue Box.

While Uber has been connecting Australians to the places, people and moments that matter for some time, today to celebrate us rocking Rockhampton and maximising choice in Mackay we’re offering locals a chance to get $15 off their first order using the code #ROCKYEATS and #MACKAYEATS
