Happy New Year, Australia!

From Sydney to Perth, riders across the country celebrated with Uber. Check out these fun facts about how riders used Uber and Uber Eats this New Year’s Eve.

  • When the clock struck midnight, over 3,600 riders were in an Uber.
  • One stop just isn’t enough. The most rides one person took throughout the night in Sydney was 10. In Melbourne, Perth and the Gold Coast, the most rides taken was 9; while in Adelaide it was 7 trips.
  • Some people started and ended the party with friends. Over 17,800 riders used the Multiple Stops and/or Split Fare features when heading to and from their celebrations!
  • Not everyone went to a restaurant as part of their celebrations — people chose to bring the restaurant to them through Uber Eats, making 6-7pm the most popular time to order.
  • The most popular food ordered from Uber Eats differed in each city: Adelaide loved their pies; Melbourne and Geelong enjoyed hot chips; Perth devoured chicken McNuggets and Sydney-siders dined on Margherita pizzas.
  • Drivers provided excellent service on New Year’s Eve and while compliments are still coming in, Aussie drivers received over 20,200 compliments just from this one night!

Thank you to drivers who gave up their night to help people make smart choices and provide a reliable alternative to drinking and driving. Here’s to an amazing 2018!
