uberSURF – tap a button, catch a ripper

Whether you’re into big beach breaks or carving up a mellow point break, surfers in Newcastle and the Central Coast can now catch a ripper at the tap of a button.

With the Southern Hemisphere’s largest festival of surfing – Surfest – in town, we’re super stoked to be launching uberSURF – the world’s first ridesharing service exclusively for surfers – in Newcastle and the Central Coast.

From Monday 20 February until Friday 26 February, local surfers can open the Uber app and catch a ride to the beach with their surfboard.

Thousands of people visit Newcastle and the Central Coast every year, many of them heading to the beaches to ride the world class surf. Unsurprisingly, lots of those people need a ride to the beach, getting themselves and their boards to the ocean, and safely home after a day on the waves. uberSURF is the perfect solution to ensure everyone get to and from the beach in a safe, reliable and affordable ride.

uberSURF is available across Newcastle and the Central Coast for the same price as a normal uberX ride.

All of Uber’s standard product safety features are in place before, during and after every uberSURF ride, like live GPS tracking, 2-way feedback and the ability to share trip details with family and friends.
