To deliver on this promise, today we’re dropping uberX prices by 15% to make Uber cheaper than ever.

An uberX ride from the CBD to Chapel Street will now be up to 50% cheaper than a taxi. If you choose to fare split with 3 friends, this is as little as $3.50 each.**

As we have seen in many cities, when prices are lowered, demand among riders increases. Increased demand creates greater efficiency for the driver partner, more trips per hour, and more earnings for every hour on the road.

We are so confident with this new pricing, that we are actually increasing our existing earnings guarantees for our driver partners. We feel that it is important for partner drivers to have this level of certainty and comfort going into a price change.

Although UberBLACK is already the classiest ride in town, we think Melbourne deserves even more. We’re raising the bar on our premium chauffeur-driven services and raising prices 15% to reflect this.
