We’re always working to make the Uber experience as hassle-free as possible for our riders and driver-partners. The following app features have been developed for deaf and hard-of-hearing drivers and are available for all Uber driver-partners. Driver-partners interested in these features can simply sign into their account and turn these features on.
1. PARTNER DASHBOARD
The first setting can be found by logging into your Partner Dashboard and selecting the “Profile” tab.
You’ll now see a section labeled “ Accessibility” where you can select the option of “Assistance for deaf or hard-of-hearing partners”.
Once you select this, hit Save. This will allow the following:
- Turns off calling and uses text-only messaging.
- Adds a prompt for the rider’s destination.
- Shows a message to let riders know you’re deaf or hard of hearing.
2. APP SETTINGS
The other feature is a setting inside the app to add flashing lights to the trip request screen.
To use this feature, go to “Settings” within the Uber Partner App. You’ll see an option titled “Use Flash for Request”. Check the box to the right and you’ll be all set! The Flash feature will automatically be turned off during the nighttime to allow for safe driving.
Check out the captioned video which further explains the new app features.
If you have more questions, please contact your local Uber team via email. We’re always happy to help.
If you have deaf or hard-of-hearing friends, consider referring them to drive with Uber. Add them through the Uber Partner app or your dashboard and get a cash incentive when they start driving.
