Past events

India

In 2019, only 19% of our interns in India identified as female. She++ was designed as a forum to showcase our culture, space, and talent. Since the first iteration, India’s intern program now operates at gender parity. This was made possible by nearly doubling registrations year over year thereby building future pipelines of talent.

Denmark

Currently only about 15% of Computer Science and Computer Engineering degrees are conferred to women in Denmark. As we look to hire for our Aarhus tech center, we want to make sure that we identify women from local universities for internships and entry level positions. This made Denmark an excellent candidate for the first iteration of She++ outside of India. The first edition took place in 2022 and we look forward to highlighting the great work of the Tech Center to hire women across Europe.

Brazil

In July 2023, the next edition of She++ launched in São Paulo, Brazil. 35 students representing 17 universities attended the professional development opportunity. Delivered fully in Portuguese, this version of She++ focused on the different opportunities for work at Uber, offered the opportunity to network with the local team, as well as hear stories about the real-life challenges and successes of women in Tech.

Geeti started in She++ and is now an Uber Engineer

"Having been a participant in the She++ program before starting my internship at Uber, I truly understand the transformative power it holds in championing diversity and inclusion in tech," shares Geeti Oberoi who attended She++ and is now a full-time Uber Software Engineer.

She++ helped Riikka prepare for Uber's interview process

"It first seemed almost too good to be true. I'd describe She++ as a short and intensive networking event that had a big concrete boost in my career," shares Riikka, an Engineer from Finland who attended She++ in 2023.

"The most concrete help were Uber resources about technical interviews. It made the expectations and evaluation criteria clear. The whole process and support also gave a strong feeling of equality and fair assessment in the hiring process."

Looking forward

She++ is one of many programs that Uber has set up to invest in local communities across the different regions we operate in. This program serves as a pathway for the next generation of women in tech to explore our internship programs, that in turn lead to meaningful careers inside and outside of Uber. Our aim is to empower early-in-career women (and many other intersectional identities) in the local communities at no cost to them.
