Uber’s Impact in Edmonton

With the spring weather quickly approaching, we wanted to take a look back at the last four months and examine the impact our platform has had in Edmonton since our arrival.

Just last month we detailed how Uber is working hand in hand with public transportation, but what’s even more meaningful is how our platform is helping people in the city move.

CONNECTING WITH YOUR CITY

With more affordable options and features that let you share the cost of a ride, connecting with your city and suburban areas has never been easier and more affordable. It’s not surprising that riders are using Uber to get around town and beyond.

EMPOWERING THE ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT

While you can use our app in Edmonton and more than 300 cities around the world, core to the Uber platform are the Edmontonians that get you where you need to be. Our driver partners are as diverse as the people who choose to use Uber for a safe and reliable ride. They come from different backgrounds, and choose to partner with Uber for a host of reasons, ranging from finding a bridge in their career, to supplementing their income. Our current partners represent a broad cross section of Edmontonians, and hail from all over the city.

GROWING WITH YOU

This last image below illustrates the added mobility that Uber provides to Edmontonians. While the density highlighted in the downtown core is expected, it is clear that even folks outside of the Henday, in surrounding areas, are popping open their app to look for a quick and cost-effective way to get around.

WHAT’S NEXT

You may be aware that while the City of Edmonton has expressed interest in developing new regulations for the 21st century, they’re looking to halt progress on a service that in a short period of time has become meaningful to riders and drivers. Edmontonians should continue to benefit from new transportation alternatives and we are making every effort to work with city officials to expedite this process.

It’s not too late to show your support.
