Canada's Nightlife Uncovered: The 2026 Uber Nightlife Index
As Canadians gear up for a spooktacular Halloween, we're back with our fifth annual Nightlife Index, revealing how Canadians are enjoying their cities after dark. Using aggregated, anonymized insights from Uber and Uber Eats, this year's Index tracks the past year's late-night trends, from the cities that party the hardest to Canadians' favourite morning-after cures.
Whether it's Halloween, a holiday party or a night out with friends, a great night out starts with a plan for a safe ride home. That's why Uber is teaming up with MADD Canada again to remind Canadians to plan ahead, make safe choices, and never drive impaired.
Below are the top highlights from this year's Index:
- Top Party Cities: London, Ontario, holds on to its crown as Canada's top partying city for another year, followed by Winnipeg in second place. Lethbridge makes its way into the top three, while Kitchener-Waterloo takes fourth and Toronto rounds out the top five.
- Biggest Nights Out: New Year's Eve takes the top spot as Canada's biggest night of partying, followed by Halloween and the Saturday of Halloween weekend. The holiday party season and St. Patrick's Day weekend round out the top five.
- Halloween After Dark: Halloween keeps Canadians out later than usual, with celebrations extending well into the night.
- Confessions of a Late-Night Shopaholic: Late night delivery isn’t just for snacks - Canada’s top late-night convenience orders included bathroom tissue, ice cubes, condoms and ibuprofen tablets, and allergy tablets.
- Sunday Scary Solutions: Canadians are reaching for a mix of breakfast classics and caffeine fixes after a night out. Hot coffee tops the list, followed by hash browns, breakfast wraps, bagels and iced coffee.
- Arrive in Style: Toronto leads the country in Uber Black rides, while Calgary takes the top spot for Uber Premier.
"Whether it’s Halloween, a holiday party, or a night out with friends, Canadians should be able to enjoy themselves and get home safely," said Laura Miller, Head of Public Policy and Communications at Uber Canada. "Having more transportation options makes it easier to plan ahead and leave the car at home. That’s why Uber is proud to work with MADD Canada to encourage safe choices and help prevent impaired driving.”
According to a Public First survey commissioned by Uber, 66 per cent of Canadians agree that having options like Uber helps reduce drunk driving in their area.
“A safe night out starts with a plan for how you'll get home,” said Dawn Regan, Chief Operating Officer for MADD Canada (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). “Whether you're meeting friends, celebrating a special occasion or enjoying your city's nightlife, making that decision before the night begins is important. Choosing a designated driver, public transit or a rideshare option like Uber can help prevent impaired driving and keep our roads safe.”
