Together on the road to zero emissions

Uber changed the way the world moves. And we’re committed to changing the way the world moves forward. That’s why we’re announcing our commitment to becoming a zero-emission platform in US and Canadian cities as well as in major global cities where we can ensure a fair transition for drivers, by 2030—a goal that can only be achieved by working together.

Helping you go electric

Drivers like you are leading the way toward a greener future, and Uber is committed to supporting you. That’s why we’re launching the Green Future program, to provide access to resources valued at $800 million to help hundreds of thousands of drivers like you transition to battery electric vehicles (EVs) by 2025.

If you’re thinking about making the switch, here are some ways we can help you:

Zero Emissions incentive

Drivers of fully electric vehicles (EVs) are eligible for the Zero Emissions incentive, which lets them earn an extra $1 on every Uber trip (up to $4,000 annually) until December 31, 2022. ¹.

Uber Green

We launched Uber Green in September 2020, a low-emission ride option that connects riders with drivers using hybrid and fully electric vehicles. On each Uber Green trip, EV drivers earn an extra $0.50 paid by riders when they select Uber Green.2 This $0.50 is in addition to extra earnings from the Zero Emissions incentive.

Great deals on a new Chevrolet Bolt EV

GM is offering all eligible drivers who use the Uber platform the GM Employee Discount on the 2021 or 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV or EUV.3 Drivers can get up to $2,869 CAD off select 2021 or 2022 Bolt EV or EUV Premier models.⁴ That’s in addition to the current available Federal Government Incentive of up to $5,000 CAD.5

To redeem your GM Employee Discount, contact Uber’s Support team at 866-987-3474 (Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm ET) to receive your discount code. Then present your code at time of sale at a participating Chevrolet dealership in Canada.

Uber will be a zero-emission mobility platform by 2040

¹ The Zero Emissions incentive program will be valid from 4am local time on September 21, 2020 until 3:59am local time on December 31, 2022. Eligible drivers will receive the Zero Emissions incentive and any other promotions. To remain eligible for the Zero Emissions incentive, at least 90% of all trips need to be completed with a battery electric vehicle, for drivers with more than one vehicle. You can earn a maximum of $4,000 in 12 months. Uber reserves the right to withhold or deduct payments in the event of error, suspected fraud, illegality, or violation of driver terms or these terms. Offers are subject to change or withdrawal at any time and without notice.

² Uber Green is available in select cities. Please check the app for more information on availability and offer restrictions.

Must be a Canadian resident; be cleared to drive on the Uber platform; provide an eligible one-time discount code, which can be obtained by contacting Uber Support Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm ET at 866-987-3474; and take new retail delivery by 1/04/2022. ⁵ The federal government incentive is provided by the Canadian federal government on the purchase of eligible electric vehicles up to a maximum of $5,000 CAD. The federal government incentive is applied after applicable taxes are calculated. Other government incentives may apply and vary by region. The maximum amount of the available incentives, the applicable terms and conditions, and eligibility and application requirements may vary. Available incentives are administered independently by the federal government and are subject to cancellation or change at any time. Incentive information is provided for informational purposes only; GM Canada is not responsible for the administration of any incentives provided by the federal government or any cancellations or changes, and it makes no representation about the actual amount of or eligibility for any incentive. Conditions and limitations apply. For more information, see tc.canada.ca/en/road-transportation/innovative-technologies/zero-emission-vehicles.
