Tell us a little about yourself and your car by creating a driver profile.

Your vehicle must meet the requirements to drive or deliver with Uber in Windsor. There are many options available, check to see which ones your vehicle qualifies for.

After signing up, you must complete a screening of your driving record and criminal history. In Windsor, you have two options:

Option 1: Online Screening

Most earners complete their screening quickly and securely online via our vendor, Triton. Once your driver's licence and profile picture has been uploaded and approved, you'll receive a link from Triton, our trusted background screening partner. Check the Background Check section of the Documents Hub in your Uber App or your email (including spam) for a link from Triton to begin this process.

Option 2: Provide Your Own Documents

If you prefer to obtain your own screening, you must provide your Driver Abstract (3 Year Driver Record Search from Service Ontario) and a Vulnerable Sector Check (Level 3).

Please note:

• The document must be submitted to Uber within 30 days of the document’s issue date.
• Your local police department may charge a fee for this service.
• Once you have received your document, please contact Uber Support to upload the document for review.

New and existing drivers must pass a background screening every calendar year.


Additional Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)

Windsor requires a Vulnerable Sector Check (Level 3). Vulnerable Sector Checks must be completed by your local police service. This check can be obtained from a police department in the area where you live in Ontario (e.g. Windsor Police Service if you live in the City of Windsor, or the OPP in other areas). When applying for a Vulnerable Sector Check, a police service may require you to provide a letter from the agency or organization requesting the check. If needed, download the Uber VSC request letter from our website down below.

The Vulnerable Sector Check must be submitted to Uber within 30 days of the document’s issue date.


Submitting your VSC:

Once you receive your document, upload it to the "Vulnerable Sector Check" slot in your Uber Driver app. To ensure your document is processed quickly, please follow these guidelines based on your file format:

• For Paper Documents: Please provide a direct photograph of the paper document rather than a digital scan. Take a clear photo of your results. Ensure all pages are included and that the official feature (police seal, digital signature, or watermark) is fully visible.
• For Digital Documents: If you have the original PDF file, please upload it directly rather than taking a screenshot or photo of your screen.

The document must be submitted to Uber within 30 days of the document’s issue date. You will need to pass this VSC every year.

Your vehicle must pass an inspection by a licenced mechanic to receive a Safety Standards Certificate (SSC) each year. You must upload a photo of this document within 36 days of passing the inspection. 

You can have your vehicle inspected at either:

• A DriveON Vehicle Inspection Centre
• An existing Motor Vehicle Inspection Centre (MVIS) (available until March 31, 2025)

If you did not receive a paper vehicle inspection report and have instead been issued a DriveON digital inspection report, you can search for it on the DriveON portal and download it as a PDF file. Make sure to upload the document labeled “Ontario DriveON Safety Standard Certificate”, not the “Ministry of Transportation Safety Inspection Report”.
