Since 2013, Uber has been evolving the way people move throughout Honolulu and over 265 other cities around the world. We are always seeking innovative ways to improve transportation options for those who may require additional assistance.
Today, Uber Hawaii is announcing a new platform that will allow those needing an extra hand to request safe and reliable rides at the tap of a button — uberASSIST.
With uberASSIST, uberX partners have received training on the necessary knowledge and safety requirements for those with accessibility needs.
WHAT IS uberASSIST?
uberASSIST is designed for additional assistance for members of the senior and disability communities. Drivers are specifically trained to assist riders into the vehicles and can accommodate folding wheelchairs, walkers, and scooters. Note: uberASSIST vehicles do not have accessible ramps.
HOW IT WORKS:
- Open your Uber app.
- Select “uberX” on the vehicle icon slider.
- Select the “uberASSIST” option above the slider.
- Set your location and request your ride!
PRO TIP: After requesting, contact your driver ahead of time with any specific needs.
