2019: A reflection
Launching Uber Pro

We are proud to offer a customer loyalty program that recognises outstanding drivers. Uber Pro rewards help drivers reach their goals – on and off the road. Examples include fuel savings with Shell, discounted car maintenance through the AA, through to fully-funded degree programmes in partnership with the Open University.
Partnering with the Institute of Licensing

We are proud to continue our partnership with the IoL —and much enjoy our time spent at events across the country.
A few senior members joined us on a visit to our operations base in Limerick, Ireland, last October and were impressed by the size, scale and scope of what our teams deliver.
You can read more about it in David Lucas’s blog in Issue No. 5 of the Institute of Licensing’s LINK Magazine.
Supporting local communities

Over the last year we have established a number of local and national partnerships to provide social value to the places and people we serve.
These include providing monthly credits to local charities for the elderly, the homeless and the unemployed to enable beneficiaries and clients access events and services they would otherwise struggle to reach. We have also established two national partnerships, with the Prince’s Trust and with UK Community Foundations
Interacting with councils

Our end of year survey highlighted that licensing officers rate us 4.5 out of 5 – an increase from our last survey, which we hope is the start of an ongoing positive trend.
We like working hard to establish good professional relationships with authorities across the country, and we are always keen to hear from you how we can improve.
Working closely with the police

Beyond our work with licensing officers, we have also established very strong links with police forces around the country. They have access to a dedicated LERT portal for any inquiries where we might be able to provide assistance.
We are delighted that Mr Martin Hewitt QPM, Chair of the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) is the nominated strategic lead for Uber in UK Law Enforcement, representing all UK forces and head officers.
2020: The year ahead
We’ve had a busy start to the year, including our inaugural Tech for Safety summit held last month in London. Our Chief Safety Officer, Tony West, gave a keynote speech and the event was well attended by senior government figures, including the Minister for Transport, George Freeman MP. He clearly enjoyed the day!

We are looking forward to a full year of activity. Where we will be:
- Working with you to respond to any questions
- Continuing to drive our public safety efforts, including new features, services and partnerships
- Building stronger local relationships, including discussions with regional transport bodies
- Launching our national impact report
There are two significant moments too: the TFL appeal as well as the Supreme Court hearing on worker status of drivers. We will be sure to keep you updated on all that’s happening. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with any questions.
Uber and You
As a reminder, licensing teams and enforcement officers can contact Uber in a number of ways:
- For day to day issues 24/7 emergency phone line,
- For instances when a driver must be immediately suspended or other very serious incidents
- Face-to-face interaction
- The local authority website with news, information and resources. Click here to read more: http://t.uber.com/localauthority
- Please be reminded that our number has changed for local enforcement enquiries. UK and Northern Ireland: +44 (0) 808 189 0665. Republic of Ireland: +353 1800 852 344
There is a separate, dedicated system for police inquiries. Please direct colleagues to our LERT portal via lert@uber.com.
Meantime, please look at our revamped website for regulators that highlights all that we can do to work with you.
