From Fairfield to New Haven, Hartford, and beyond—the Nutmeg State is on the move. In February alone, the number of Uber trips in Connecticut increased 4X compared to last year, with riders taking hundreds of thousands of trips statewide. As trips increase, riders are turning to Uber not only on nights and weekends, but as an integral part of their daily commute.
1 in 4 trips during morning and evening commuter hours begin or end near a public transit station, indicating that Connecticuters are increasingly ditching their keys and avoiding parking fees by taking Uber to the bus or train.
For many, it’s the first or last mile of a daily commute that remains a challenge—whether it’s getting home or to the office from the train station. 62% of riders we surveyed* are addressing this challenge by taking Uber to other means of public transportation (train/bus), and more than one-third of riders take Uber to or from the train station at least once each week.

For thousands of everyday commuters, riding the Metro-North and Shore Line East rail takes the headache out of getting to work. They can skip the heavy traffic that plagues I-95 and other major highways.
Since launching in 2014, we’ve worked to expand service so that riders can reliably request a ride to and from their local transit hubs. Today, riders requesting an Uber at Metro-North Stations wait less than 3 minutes before their uberX arrives.
The number of trips beginning or ending near Connecticut’s Shore Line East stations has grown tremendously as well. In February alone, the number of trips to the New London Shore Line East station increased by more than 11X compared to last year.
We’ve come a long way since our 2014 launch and look forward to making it easier and more convenient to use existing public transportation in the years to come.
