OPERATIONS – UK
Operations sit at the core of our business; whether it’s launching a new city, product or growing mature markets, this team is always involved. These guys are hustlers, analytical thinkers, innovators, problem solvers – everything needed to make Uber a success on the ground. If you want to make an impact and do something meaningful (and you have what it takes) then this is the right opportunity for you.

What’s operations like at Uber?
Uber took something as ordinary and mundane as getting from point A to point B and turned it into something that people are excited about. From little things like skeleton cars for Halloween to big stunts like UberICECREAM, Uber is all about celebrating individual cities and doing seemingly insane things to make people happy – that’s inspiring.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
On Tuesdays we invite partner-drivers to hang out, have a laugh, and answer any questions they may have over tea and coffee. Through just an hour or so a week partner-drivers have been able to develop their own community made up of electrical engineers, single dads juggling kids, and PHD students – all driving with Uber. The best part is, I moved to Sheffield knowing only a handful of people, and now I never leave the house without seeing a friendly face.
MARKETING – UK
How can we make a strong connection with riders, partner-drivers and the cities we care about? Our Marketing team tells the story of who we are and what we are doing. Pioneering industries isn’t easy, and our team is constantly developing ways to engage with riders on new channels and in exciting ways. This team breathes the Uber brand, they understand the impact our platform has on the lives of those in our cities and they work tirelessly to keep our communication on point.

What’s marketing like at Uber?
Marketing at Uber is hard work and very rewarding. We work at a breakneck pace, giving us opportunities to do things that other companies would never consider. We have a great brand, which offers us plenty of opportunity to have fun. At the heart of Uber is a product that people love, which makes marketing a lot of fun.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
What impresses me every single day is the discipline and work ethic of the team. From operations to marketing, everyone here pushes the boundaries to get stuff done and do what’s right for our customers, with impressive results. No bureaucracy, no blockers – here, the best idea wins. Even though we’re a huge brand, Uber still feels like a start up – and we work hard to keep it that way.
CORPORATE – AMSTERDAM HQ
There are multiple pillars that make up our Corporate function whether it is policy and regulation, communications and PR or HR and Recruitment, these teams are crucial to the business. All of our corporate teams are key in Uber’s growth and require passionate specialists to ensure our HQ in Amsterdam is able to serve and support an EMEA wide organisation.

What do you enjoy most about your role?
There are a number of reasons why Uber is an inspiring place to work. The fact the company is only a few years old and has grown to the size it has is pretty inspirational in itself. However for me it’s the company’s collective ability to solve problems. Uber uses the same app in every city it operates in – however each city is different. As a company Uber has made itself relevant everywhere by really understanding the problems cities face and solving them. Riders and partner-drivers love Uber because it solves a problem many cities face – convenient, affordable mobility.
What’s it like to work at Uber?
I’m hugely proud to work for Uber. Not only are we helping to create a seamless way to travel around cities for our riders; we’re also helping the millions of drivers that partner with us to make ends meet every week. In London alone we get hundreds of supportive emails from partner-drivers and riders and this was really highlighted by the fact that over 200,000 Londoners signed a recent Uber petition. Uber really is a great place to work.
ENGINEERING – AMSTERDAM HQ
We move fast. Take big bold bets. Celebrate our cities, by building the world’s most advanced transportation facilitation platform. If you are open to relocating, our brand new European Engineering Centre in Amsterdam is growing fast and we’re on the lookout for top software engineers to join our mobile and back-end development teams. We focus on solving problems that come with international growth, trying to understand how our cities work, and how we can weave Uber into the city’s fabric to serve its people better: some of our engineers work on mobile payments, others focus on international product experience, while yet another group deals with real-time aspects of our infrastructure.

What’s it like to work at Uber?
Uber is one of those few companies with passionate people that really do believe in doing what they can to have an impact on the world. Uber has, in the few years it has been around, had one of the most transformational impacts on logistics in the world and it is because of the people that make up Uber.
Why did you join Uber?
I knew little about Uber before I joined though the more I started learning about what Uber engineering teams were doing, the more I understood the potential for what Uber could become. We do more than just order a safe ride for people who need it, we are building the next generation transportation facilitator which will offer so much more and will genuinely change the way the world thinks about car ownership while making the world’s roads safer.
