With fewer people moving around, we know that you may be receiving fewer trip requests. We’re working hard to introduce you to new, flexible ways to make money while helping your community. We’re introducing item delivery with Uber in select cities.* You can help your community get access to the things they need.
Uber Direct and Uber Connect are two new ways to earn during this difficult time by delivering things from individuals and businesses.

- How will I earn?
Down Small
Direct: When you receive a Direct delivery request, you’ll be able to see the fare upfront so you’ll know how much you’ll earn if you accept and complete the delivery.
Connect: You will earn based on time and distance travelled, similar to an UberX ride (your rates will be higher on Connect trips than on UberX trips). You can see a breakdown of your earnings in the Earnings section of the Driver app. - What if I arrive at the pickup location and the item is too heavy?
Down Small
Direct: Items may be as heavy as 50 pounds per package, and there might be instances where there are multiple items under one order. If you choose to accept the delivery request, you will receive relevant package information on the order information screen, beneath any notes from the sender. You may cancel a delivery request for any reason, including an item that you may not be able to lift or that may not fit in your vehicle. If you would like additional details on the item(s), please contact the sender.
Connect: Packages should not be heavier than 30 pounds in total, and the sender will place the package in the trunk of the car. You may cancel the delivery request for any reason, including if the package(s) is more than 30 pounds or does not fit in your trunk. If you would like additional detail on the item, please contact the sender. - What if I arrive at the dropoff location and can’t find the recipient?
Down Small
Direct: If you’re having trouble finding a recipient, you can tap the arrow at the bottom banner to bring up dropoff instructions that may have been provided by the sender. You can also call the sender for assistance. If you can’t reach the sender after 8 minutes and cannot otherwise complete the dropoff instructions, you can tap on the red triangle to navigate to the screen for reporting an issue. You may be prompted by the app to return the items to the pickup location. Additional fares for the return trip, outside of the initial delivery, will be added to the total amount you earn after you return the items. If the return flow is not enabled, you can leave the items at the door of the dropoff location. You can contact Uber Support for help with dropoffs.
Connect: If the recipient isn't at the dropoff location within 5 minutes of your arrival, please contact the sender through the app to coordinate the dropoff. If the sender:
• Asks you to return the package to the pickup location, the fare for the return trip will be added to the overall trip fare.
• Asks you to leave the package at the recipient's door, the sender must do so in writing as part of the special delivery instructions or in a message within the app.
• If you can't get in touch with the sender, please contact Uber Support for help. - What if I don’t want to receive item delivery requests?
Down Small
Direct: If for any reason you no longer wish to deliver items with Uber Direct, you can opt out of Uber Direct by contacting our support team here, or in the Help section of the Driver app.
Connect: If you prefer not to do package deliveries with Uber Connect, you can turn off Connect in the Preferences section of the Driver app. You can always turn it on again later.
