Meet Heiane Buenaventura, a specialist on Uber’s Merchant Onboarding team based in the Philippines. Heiane works hand in hand with our Restaurant Partners in Australia & New Zealand preparing them to go live on the Uber Eats platform. That’s a process entailing all things from ensuring every little detail on the menu is complete including high-quality photos, verification of food licenses, technical readiness and of course making sure they are ready to commence packing orders with our complimentary delivery bags. The team completes all of this within just a few days!
What has your journey at Uber looked like?
“My journey here has been marked by continuous growth and learning. With each new responsibility, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to the success of the team and the organization as a whole.
In my initial role in Merchant Onboarding, I connected everyday with Uber Eats merchants to check they were fully prepared to accept orders on our platform. As time progressed, I transitioned into compliance checking, reviewing merchant requirements to ensure a smooth go live. I also took on menu escalations verifying that menus provided by merchants were clear and complete, down to the smallest details such as prices and sizes. I was then hand-picked to lead accuracy review and was responsible for scrutinizing our processes to confirm that we consistently met compliance standards, and therefore our commitment to excellence.”
What are you currently focusing on and what impact does it have on Uber globally?
“Today, I’m focused on continuous self-improvement and acquiring knowledge and skills that I believe can positively influence Uber’s processes and, in turn, benefit Uber’s global customer base. By constantly expanding my expertise and staying updated on relevant industry trends and best practices, I can offer insights, suggestions, or improvements to existing processes within Uber. This can lead to increased efficiency, better customer service, and a more competitive edge in the global market.”
What has been one of your proudest moments at Uber?
“One of my proudest moments at Uber was when my manager recognized and awarded me for my exceptional flexibility and reliability. Being acknowledged as the go-to person who can seamlessly adapt to various tasks and proactively take initiative without explicit guidance was truly rewarding. It not only affirmed my dedication to my role but also reinforced my sense of contribution and value within the team. This recognition served as a motivating reminder of the importance of adaptability and self-driven commitment in a dynamic work environment like Uber.”
Can you tell us about life at Uber in the Philippines?
“I’m based in our Centre of Excellence (COE) in Manila and life here is a delightful blend of work and wellbeing. It’s a positive, uplifting environment filled with happy colleagues who support each other (and free food!). Special events bring fun and camaraderie, and every month’s end is a time of recognition, celebrating hard work and dedication. This office isn’t just about work; it’s about creating a community where both personal and professional fulfillment thrive.”
Any tips for people looking to join Uber’s Manila COE?
