To honor Black History Month, Uber Eats is committed to generating support for Black-owned restaurants as part of Uber’s broader ongoing racial and social equity initiatives. We believe that food is both the history and the heart of culture and that these local businesses help move our communities forward.
We invite you to join us in supporting the following initiatives:
On the RISE with Marcus Samuelsson

We’re proud to announce an original content series, On the RISE, created in partnership with celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson. This 4-part series will follow Chef Samuelsson across the US as he explores the past, present, and future of Black cuisine.
Uber Eats x Black Businesses Matter Matching Fund
For Black History Month, we’ve pledged that for every order placed with a Black-owned restaurant, Uber will donate $1 to the Black Businesses Matter Matching Fund (for a total of up to US$250,000). Uber will also donate an additional US$250,000 to the fund, to be distributed through grants to Black-owned restaurants in the US and Canada. Celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson, in partnership with the Project Bento charity and select regional chefs, will choose which restaurants receive a grant to help support their business during the COVID-19 crisis.
Uber Eats x Black Restaurant Week

For the week of February 8-14, 2021, Uber Eats will be featuring virtual Black Restaurant Weeks in more than 50 cities across the US, including a partnership with Chicago Black Restaurant Week. Check the Uber Eats app to order special menu items from participating restaurants.
A Harlem pop-up for Black-owned restaurants

Uber Eats champions grassroots restaurant initiatives such as the Renaissance Pavilion at Strivers’ Row in Harlem, a winterized public pop-up space that expands outdoor dining and event space for restaurants. We’ve partnered with Harlem Park to Park, Valinc PR, and others to create this new avenue for Black-owned restaurants to expand customer reach with the intention of making it a new model for community interaction and support.
