Get a license in Australia
The South Australian government requires all drivers using the Uber app hold a Driver Accreditation and update your vehicle's CTP insurance premium class. Here's how to get the required accreditations.

1. Get a Working with Children Check & medical certificate
Before you apply for a Driver Accreditation (DA), you need to
- Pass a Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Get a Certificate of Fitness
- For the WWCC, you must apply to the Department of Human Services (DHS) online via the DCSI portal
For the Certificate of Fitness, you need to call a medical practitioner
2. Get your car inspected
You can skip this step if you
- Don’t have a car yet
- Rent a car from the Uber Marketplace
Get a government-accredited inspection of your car.
It normally takes less than 30 minutes and can be done through our third-party inspections service
3. Get your Driver Accreditation and insurance upgrade

Transport Licence Code
To comply with new regulations and drive using the Uber driver app, you will be required to get a Passenger Transport Licence Code added to your NSW driver’s licence.
Apply for a Passenger Transport Licence Code
If you’re happy for Uber to submit a PTLC application to the RMS on your behalf along with a copy of your driver’s licence, simply complete the online form.

You can initiate a WWCC yourself by visiting the DCSI portal. Once initiated, DCSI will send you an email to activate your account on DCSI's online portal. You will need to enter your information and pay for the check on DCSI's online portal. Once the check has finished processing, you will receive an email and a letter from DCSI with the check result (10-30 business days)

Get a government accredited inspection of your car. Inspections are provided by
- Rightway Automotive (call 08 8340 7233) for $75.00 RAA (call 8202 4688) for $97.80
- When your car has been inspected, upload the document to your profile. The inspection is valid for 1 year.

After paying for your WWCC, you’ll need to get a Certificate of Fitness for heavy vehicle and commercial drivers (Form MR713). You do this by going to a General Practitioner (GP). You can print and fill in the form so it is ready when you go to your GP.

When you pass your WWCC and have your Certificate of Fitness, go to the Accreditation and Licensing Centre at 71 Richmond Road, Mile End to get your DA.Then upload your DA to your Uber profile.
When getting your DA at the Accreditation and Licensing Centre, you must also ask for your car’s CTP insurance premium to be upgraded to ‘small public passenger vehicle’. You will need to show printouts of screenshots of your profile and vehicle pages from partners.uber.com or the app.
The cost of the upgrade is dependant on your chosen CTP insurance provider.

After upgrading your CTP insurance premium, you must return to where you had your car inspected to pick up a sticker to place on your windscreen as proof of the upgrade.
What to bring to the Accreditation and Licensing Centre at 71 Richmond Road, Mile End
- Passport
- Certificate of Fitness
- Proof of vehicle Inspection (if you have one)
- Certificate of Currency for your car insurance policy
- Printouts of screenshots of your Uber profile and vehicle pages from partners.uber.com or the app
- ABN 和 GST 登记
You can provide your ABN details and confirm that you are registered for GST in the ‘Invoice Settings’ section of your Partner Dashboard. Scroll down to fill in the field marked “Australian Business Number (ABN)” and confirm that you are registered for GST.

ANCAP 车辆安全政策
All vehicles must have a 5-Star ANCAP rating or fall under our vehicle exemption policy to qualify for the Uber platform. Vehicles that do not meet our requirements will not be eligible to receive trip requests, and may be deleted from your account.

Out of State Driving History
An out of state driving history is required if you have lived interstate and have not held a full New South Wales license for twelve months (please note that some state governments will charge a fee for requesting an interstate driving history).
Uber requires:
- The first issue date of your Australian drivers licence; and
- Previous suspensions, DUI’s or other traffic offences

You can request a ‘Traffic History’ online. This will show the last time your licence was renewed, as well as any penalties or disqualifications.
Renewed your QLD licence in the last 12 months?
Uber will need to determine when you were first issued your licence. There are two ways to do this:
- Either request a ‘Licence History' below; or
- Provide a photograph of your Queensland licence.

You must evidence the following if previously driving in Western Australia.
- Licence First Issue Date
For the first issue date of their licence you can call 13 11 56 to request the results, which will be emailed to you shortly.
Alternatively, you can take a photo of both sides of your driver licence to evidence the first issue date.
- Record of Traffic Infringement Notice
For disqualifications and penalties, you must download and fill out the 'Record of Traffic Infringement Notices' form.
