Uber Turns Five, CEO Explains Vision For Company’s Future.
Business Insider reports in continuing coverage of Uber’s fifth anniversary that the company’s CEO Travis Kalanick said, in a speech commemorating the event, that Uber’s “ultimate vision of the future” centers on “smarter transportation with fewer cars and greater access,” which he hopes will allow cities to reclaim “space once wasted on garages and lots and meters to build new parks and schools and housing.”
Australian NBA Player Dellavedova Calls An Uber To Get Home After Finals Game.
The New York Post reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Matthew Dellavedova missed his team’s bus “back to San Francisco and decided to call an Uber car” to get to his hotel after game one against the Warriors.
Uber Reportedly Urging Melbourne To Be A “Smarter” City By Embracing Carpooling.
The Herald Sun reports in a paywalled article that Uber’s Australia boss has told officials in Melbourne that the city would be “smarter” if it embraces Uber’s services, including a “carpooling” service the company is “[preparing] to launch.”that Uber announced an update that integrates new features to help deaf and hearing-impaired drivers, including “visual alerts rather than audible ones, and some changes on the rider’s end to let them know that calling the driver isn’t an option, as well as alternative ways to message the driver.”
