Uber is pleased to announce that they have partnered with RedBook Inspect to conduct vehicle inspection checks on all uberX vehicles. Auto Inspect is a vehicle inspection service. This annual inspection is part of Uber’s commitment to being a safe, reliable and affordable transportation choice. Uber will be paying for this inspection in year 1.

Inspections will be conducted on all vehicles and we ask that you work with RedBook Inspect to complete these as quickly as possible in order to remain active on the Uber platform.

How does it work?

Before you get on the road you will need to book an inspection with RedBook Inspect. You can simply book your inspection here

Once the inspector has examined the vehicle, they will let you know if it passed or failed. If it’s a pass, there is nothing more required from you. Please note that Uber does not accept vehicles that have formerly used as a Taxi.

What if I fail?

Should a vehicle fail an inspection, RedBook Inspect will notify you on the spot (verbally) and will let you know what needs to be fixed. You must then return for a quick re-inspection once you have made the repairs. Please do not book this inspection. You can simply turn up to the location. The vehicle will be deactivated until these problems have been rectified.
