All Uber driver-partners in NSW are required to hold ‘Private Hire Vehicle’ (PHV) Driver Authority issued by Roads and Maritime Services (RMS). We can assist you in applying for your Authority by submitting your documentation to the RMS on your behalf.

Before your application is submitted to the RMS office you must have provided Uber with the following documents:

  1. A completed Driver Authority Application (complete this form t.uber.com/dacapp)
  2. A valid NSW Driver’s Licence
  3. A valid Passport/Birth Certificate
  4. A copy of your Vehicle Insurance

Once all these requirements are satisfied, we will complete a Criminal Background Check on your behalf and submit this along with your application to the RMS. Your application for a Driver Authority will cost $80 which will be taken from your Uber account. This covers the cost of your application with the RMS and the cost to run a background check as part of the application process.

Alternatively, you may apply for Driver Authority directly with the RMS – for details please see here.

The RMS may reach out to you if they require further documents to complete your application. Please ensure you check your email and phone for details on what additional information may be required. Be sure to submit any additional documents to the RMS ASAP so that your application can be processed.

Do I need to complete a Medical form with my application?

If you are aged 60 years and older, you will need to complete an additional Medical Assessment form with a GP in order to complete your application for a Driver Authority with the RMS.
