Fare rounding turned off

Previously, all fares were rounded down in (i.e. $7.56 would be charged as $7).

Now, all fares will be charged at their full amount.
On average, this will increase each fare by $0.50.

Did you know, if you have a fare over $100 it won’t appear on your trip history. Not to worry, we approve these Monday before payments are processed and it will be on your next weeks payment.

News in the World of Uber

ACT Minister Signals Taxi Deregulation, Uber Regulation.

The Brisbane Times reports that the Australian Capital Territory Chief Minister Andrew Barr is calling for “an increased level of regulation on Uber,” in combination with “a decrease in regulation in some sectors of the taxi industry” to “reach a range of minimum standards that the community would want and expect” to protect consumers.

The AP reports that Miami Dolphins defensive lineman A.J. Francis, who is “under contract to earn $US510,000 ($A662,000) this year,” also “moonlights as an Uber driver” in his 2014 Dodge Charger in Miami, Florida, claiming he is “not putting all [his] eggs in one basket” as he studies to earn his “master’s degree in international security and economic policy.” Francis, who “said the job suits him because he enjoys meeting people,” explained that Uber “thrives” everywhere it goes and noted that its “funny” that taxi drivers have been protected for so long “because in no other aspect of American culture are you allowed to stifle capitalism.”

An Uber Solution to Drink Driving?

The Margaret River Mail reports that Uber may be a “way to reduce drink driving in” Margaret River, Australia, according to Settlers Tavern owner Rob Gough, who said that “the high number of convictions” for drunk driving in the area could be the result of “tourists who were used to greater number of taxis in the region.”
