G20 Updates
With G20 this weekend, there is plenty of uncertainty about how busy Brisbane will be.
What we know:
– Many Brisbane riders & drivers are going away for the weekend.
– There is a large number of international visitors: media, delegations and tourists in Brisbane.
Many have the Uber App on their phone and will be looking to explore Brisbane.
NOTE: We are still expecting Wednesday & Thursday evenings to be busy. In particular, Thursday evening with the public holiday the following day!
G20 Incentive Update
This Saturday we have put the 6pm-2am $30 minimum on hold.
This is a once-off event for the G20. Please be aware of this change.
On a regular Saturday night, a very small number of drivers rely on the $30 minimum, the vast majority of drivers earn more than $30 per hour.
G20 – TIPS TO MAXIMISE YOUR $$
1. Communicating with riders:
Riders will be expecting some difficulties with pick-ups / drop-offs during the G20. There is no need to be concerned.
You may need to call / SMS riders for some of the following reasons:
– Arranging an alternate pick up due to road closures
– Advising of a longer ETA
– Communicating changes to a regular route
If in doubt, communicate with the rider so they understand any difficulties.
2. Uber App: The In-app navigation will not consider road closures
3. Road Closures: closures began today & continue until 5am Monday 17th.
Road Closures: What you need to know
– Tuesday 11th – Thursday 13th 7pm: minor road closures
– Thursday 13th 7pm – Monday 17th 5am: more significant road closures
– Alternate routes will be clearly signed by on-road Council signage to help drivers
Areas to avoid: SOUTH BANK, NORTH QUAY & IVORY STREET TUNNEL AREA.
– Friday 14th – Sunday 16th: additional closures – lasting up to 1 hr – to allow motorcades into the G20 area.
– Go Between Bridge will be TOLL FREE: Friday 14th – Sunday 16th
– Public Transport: services will be reduced significantly – meaning more riders on Uber
Example Trips:
Valley / New Farm to Western Suburbs: We suggest going via Spring Hill rather than travelling through the CBD.
West End to New Farm: Travel via the Story Bridge rather than through the CBD.

Driver Drop-In Centre
The dedicated Driver Drop-In Centre is now active and open during the noted hours. Located at Unit 7, 441 Nudgee Road, Hendra.
PLEASE BE AWARE THE DROP-IN CENTRE WILL NOT BE OPEN THIS SATURDAY DUE TO G20.
The Centre will be open:
Wednesday 12 November – 4pm – 7pm
Friday 14 November – 9am – 12noon
Saturday 15 November – CLOSED

BYOD & Driver Referrals
When you download the Uber Driver App to your phone (sadly iPhone only – Chad apologises to all of his Android/Samsung comrades, he is trying to get the Android release as soon as possible) you can now email and text your friends using the contact list in your phone!
Open the Referral App and see the new screen. When you click either button to refer it will create an auto-populated email message! It also shows your invite code if you want to share with friends!
What does this mean? An easier way to get $200 in your pocket before 1 December with 10 completed trips. Remember top referring driver (10+ trips completed) wins the $2,500!
