Even when you’re alert, serious incidents can still happen.

When you are involved in a serious incident while driving on the Uber app, make sure you call emergency services straight away. As soon as it is practical to do so, please contact Uber Support to report the incident, as it may be a ‘notifiable occurrence’.

What are notifiable occurrences?

Notifiable occurrences are incidents of a serious nature. In NSW, Uber has a legal obligation to report all notifiable occurrences, under the Point to Point Transport (Taxis and Hire Vehicles) Act 2016.

As a driver-partner, you are required, so far as you are reasonably able, to comply with reasonable instructions provided by Uber to ensure we can comply with our obligations under the Act.

Examples of notifiable occurrences:

  • An incident that results in a complaint being made to police regarding any form of assault, indecent exposure, physical threats or other forms of intimidation
  • An accident or incident that results in an injury treated by an ambulance officer or needs to be treated at a hospital
  • A collision causing damage that prevents the completion of the journey in that vehicle
  • A mechanical fault that prevents the vehicle completing its journey

Not sure of which incident to report?  Contact Support and we’ll do the rest

If something does happen on the road and you are unsure of whether it is considered a notifiable occurrence, it’s best to report it anyway.

Once you notify us, we can assess the situation and, if required by law, report it to the rideshare regulator. You don’t have to worry about following up – they will contact you if there is anything else you need to do.

Together, we can help make the Uber platform safer for riders and driver-partners alike.
