Your city. Our promise.

Uber will be a zero-emission platform by 2040.

Millions of rides a day. Zero emissions.

That’s our commitment to every single person on the planet. The path there will be electric. It will be shared. It will be with buses and trains and bicycles and scooters. These monumental changes won’t come easy. Or fast. But we have a plan to get there, and we need you to come along for the ride.

  • Uber Green

You can now tap a button and request a ride in an electric or hybrid vehicle in select cities around the world—with 30% lower carbon intensity than taking your own car. As of 2019, we only allow electric or hybrid cars to be newly registered on our platform in Austria.

“As the largest mobility platform in the world, we know that our impact goes beyond our technology. We want to do our part to build back better and support a green recovery in our cities and communities.”

Helping drivers go electric

Drivers are leading the way toward a greener future, and Uber is committed to supporting them. Our Green Future program provides access to resources valued at $800 million to help hundreds of thousands of drivers transition to battery EVs by 2025 in Canada, Europe, and the US.

Partnering to fight climate change

Uber is bringing our innovation, technology, and talent to the fight against climate change. We’re partnering with NGOs, advocacy groups, and environmental justice organizations to help expedite a clean and just energy transition. We’re also teaming up with experts, vehicle manufacturers, charging network providers, EV rental fleets, and utility companies to help drivers gain affordable access to green vehicles and charging infrastructure.

Making transparency a priority

Progress starts with taking a serious look at where we stand today and sharing results to drive accountability.

Climate Assessment and Performance Report

Our Climate Assessment and Performance Report analyzes the nearly 4 billion rides taken on our platform in the US and Canada from 2017 to 2019. Uber is the only mobility company to assess and publish real-world sustainability data.

Sparking electrification in Europe

Uber is accelerating its commitment to sustainability in Europe and around the world. Our SPARK! report details Uber’s approach and how we hope to partner with carmakers, charging companies, and policymakers to realize our goals.

Science Based Targets initiative

Uber joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to help ensure accountability and rigor in our push to become a zero-emission platform. The SBTi defines best practices in target setting and independently assesses and approves progress.

This site and the related Climate Assessment and Performance Report (the “Report”) contain forward-looking statements regarding our future business expectations and goals, which involve risks and uncertainties. Actual results may differ materially from the results anticipated. For more information, please see our Report.
