Vehicle requirements For Expatriates in Dubai
For Dubai, drivers must meet all the requirements of the RTA:
- 4-door sedan or minivan
- Good condition with no cosmetic damage
- No commercial branding
Your paperwork
- Vehicle Registration Card for an RTA-approved limousine
- RTA card for Dubai Only / SRTA for Sharjah Only / ITC card for Abu Dhabi Only
- Emirates ID Card

Vehicle requirements For UAE Nationals in Abu Dhabi
According to UAE law, Emirati nationals are allowed to drive their private vehicles registered under their personal names or under a first-degree relative (Parent, sibling, or child) with Uber in Abu Dhabi.
If the vehicle is under partner-driver’s first-degree relative’s name then the applicant needs to provide a notarized letter from courts attesting the relationship and permission to use the vehicle for commercial purposes.
The vehicle’s minimum requirements are as follows:
Year: Vehicle must be manufactured last 5 years or newer

Additional requirements
- RTA approved Limosuine registered SUV and Minivans
- 4-door SUV or minivan with independently opening doors
- Seats sat least 6 passengers in addition to the driver
- Working windows and air conditioning
- No full-sized vans or trucks
- No taxi cabs, government cars, or other marked vehicles
- No salvaged or rebuilt vehicles
Most SUVs qualify to drive with uberXL. See the list of preferred models. Other models may also qualify.
UberComfort
Comfort was designed to maximize possibilities on the Uber platform.
Additional requirements:
- Maintain eligibility on Select
- Have a minimum star rating of 4.85
- Drive a vehicle with more legroom than smaller, compact cars eligible for Select and that meet the minimum vehicle year requirement
UberBLACK
Charge higher fares with a luxury sedan in Dubai.
Additional requirements
- RTA approved Limousine Registered Luxury Vehicles
- Mercedes-Benz, BMW or similar
- Model manufactured in 2018 or later*
- Leather or vinyl interior with no tears
- Seats at least 4 passengers in addition to the driver
- Working windows and air conditioning
- No full-sized vans or trucks
- No taxi cabs, government cars, or other marked vehicles
- No salvaged or rebuilt vehicles
