COVID-19: Information for new driver activations

As cities respond to COVID-19, cities continue limiting movement and more people continue to stay at home. At this time, you can only sign up for rides.

New account activations have been paused but we encourage you to continue reading below to choose if you’d like to get activated at this time.

Activation information for new drivers

As of 23 March, account activation remains on hold for new South African drivers, so we are providing you with important information all in one place to help you in the meantime.

1. Guidance for activation requirements and documentation
You can find minimum requirements for driver documents here. In some cases, you may not be able to get local documentation or requirements needed to get your account activated due to government shutdowns in your city. In others, you may see delays in processing your documentation.

2. Guidance if you’re looking for support
In-person support and activations in Uber Greenlight Hubs near you: Based on the advice of public health authorities, we have temporarily closed all Uber Greenlight Hubs until further notice.
