How to drive with Uber in Portugal

Do you have an email address and a smartphone? Excellent! The first step is to decide if you want to register as a driver or as a partner.

If you want to drive a vehicle and join a fleet partner, choose the option -> Driver

If you want to register a company, hire drivers and add vehicles, choose the option -> Fleet partner

Note: If you want to work on your own without joining a fleet partner, you must first create a partner account and then a driver account.

If you chose the “driver” option, we need to verify the following documents:

• Citizen Card

-> Alternative documents: Provisional Citizen Card, Proof of renewal of the citizen card, Identity card, Certificate of registration as a citizen of the European Union (only accepted for holders of a passport or foreign identity card), Residence permit / Authorization to residence permit, Marking the renewal of the residence permit, Proof of renewal of the residence permit, Residence permit.

• Driving license

-> Alternative Document : Document Replacement Guide, valid for 6 months.

• Criminal Record Certificate - must be required for the purpose of "profession/activity without special law", with the specification of the role "TVDE operator - IMT", "TDVE Driver * TVDE Digital Platforms" , "TVDE Driver * Uber" or "Taxi/Passenger Car Driver", and the mention "involves regular contact with minors (Law nº 113/2009) "; The criminal record must not contain any convictions, it must mention "NADA CONSTA ACERCA DA PESSOA ACIMA IDENTIFICADA"

• Private hire driver's license (TVDE)

-> Alternative Document: Replacement/Temporary Guide.

• Driver profile picture.

To be able to drive, you must join a fleet partner. Learn more below.

If you chose the “fleet partner” option, we need to verify the following documents:

• Bank statement
• Certificate of Commercial Registration of your business. The corporate purpose must cover the passenger transport activity and include CAE 49320 or 49392 TVDE Operator License.
• Civil and Professional Liability Insurance Policy (Specific Conditions+Invoice)
• Personal Accident Insurance Policy (Specific Conditions+Invoice)
• Declaration of Contribution Situation - Social Security. Learn more

Additionally, you must register with Fonoa in order to issue electronic invoicing. More information below.

Only “Fleet Partners” can add vehicles.

If you have a vehicle that meets the requirements in Portugal and:

1. Owner or renter of the vehicle is the Fleet Partner

   Fleet Partner must submit the following documents:

- DUA or Rental Agreement

-> Alternative documents: Customs declaration of vehicle (valid for 60 days), Proof of presentation of car registration, Declaration of car registration, Proof of ownership by the Ministry of Justice, Lease Agreement, Long-Term Rental Agreement, Proof of application for registration certificate, Registration Certificate, Permanent Certificate of Registrations in Force, Periodic Technical Inspection in force, with a validity period of 1 year.

- Auto Insurance Policy (Green Card) -> Alternative documents: Temporary Green Car.

- Auto Insurance Policy (Policy Terms and Conditions)

2. Vehicle owner is not the Fleet Partner

2.1) If the vehicle is owned by the Driver

Fleet Partner must submit the following documents:

• DUA + Authorization Statement PT Version or ENG Version, signed by the Driver

• Auto Insurance Policy (Green Card) --> Alternative documents: Temporary Green Car.

• Auto Insurance Policy (Policy Terms and Conditions).

3. Vehicle owner is a third party

Fleet Partner must submit the following documents:

• DUA + Authorization Statement PT Version or ENG Version, signed by the Driver

• Auto Insurance Policy (Green Card) --> Alternative documents: Temporary Green Car.

• Auto Insurance Policy (Policy Terms and Conditions).

If you want to add more than one vehicle, you can do so at supplier.portal.uber.com, after completing your registration.
