To help ensure a high level of safety and compliance amongst the driver-partner community, all driver-partners, are required to upload a photo of their Transport Service Licence (TSL) label through the Driver App or their partner profile.

Driver-partners who hold their own Small Passenger Service Licence (SPSL) and upload an acceptable TSL label to their driver-partner profile are able to use any NZTA approved logbook (paper or electronic) to partner with Uber.

Driver-partners who drive using Uber’s SPSL are required to download and use the Logmate Application to record their work time.

• What is a SPSL?

  A Small Passenger Service Licence (SPSL) is a type of Transport Service Licence provided to an operator or facilitator of a passenger service by the NZTA. Uber holds a SPSL so that you, as an active driver-partner and P Endorsement holder, are able to drive using the Uber App. You can also obtain your own SPSL from the NZTA and use it to partner with Uber.

• What is a TSL Label?

  A TSL label is the label you must display in the bottom right hand corner (passenger side) of your windscreen to show you are licenced to provide small passenger services. To drive as a driver-partner on the Uber Driver App, you can either drive under Uber’s SPSL or your own.

• What if I hold my own SPSL and still want to use Logmate?

  The discounted Logmate price is available to driver-partners whose Logmate accounts are associated with Rasier Operations B.V. If you wish to continue driving on the Uber App under Uber’s SPSL and enjoy using Logmate at the discounted price you must follow the below steps:

  1. upload Uber’s TSL card which was given to you to your Uber driver partner profile, instead of your own SPSL (it will have the TSL number: 01315707)
     • This means that you are driving on the Uber App under Uber’s SPSL, and Uber will continue to have access to your work time records
  2. You must display Uber’s TSL card in your vehicle when you are driving using the Uber app.
  3. You must comply with all work time regulations and record all work time on Logmate.
• Why do driver-partners not driving under Uber’s SPSL get to use the logbook option of their choice?

  Through focus groups and direct feedback channels, we have heard that some driver-partners want the flexibility to drive on the Uber Driver App using their own SPSL and the logbook option of their choice.

  Holders of SPSLs have a number of obligations they must comply with under the Land Transport Act 1998 and the Operator Licensing Rules 2017. To meet its obligations under these regulations, Uber requires all driver-partners who drive on the Uber Driver App using its SPSL to record their work time on Logmate.

  The change we have made, means when driver-partners are driving on the Uber Driver App using their own SPSL then that driver-partner or third party take responsibility to meet those obligations and so can choose how best to do this themselves.

• How can I access my Logmate records even after my Logmate account has been disassociated from Uber?

  Your Logmate records will always remain accessible, even if your account is no longer associated with Uber’s SPSL or if you no longer hold a current Logmate subscription. You can access these records via the Logmate app or on the Logmate portal.

• How do I know if I’m driving under Uber’s SPSL?

  If you are driving under Uber’s SPSL the ‘TSL Number’ on your TSL label will be 0315707, and the ‘Name’ will be “Rasier Operations B.V”.

• How can I upload my TSL label?

  Simply open your Uber Driver App, navigate to the account screen, tap the documents button and find the document called ‘TSL label’, take a photo of your label and upload it. Alternatively, follow this link to upload the document via your driver-partner dashboard.

• I do not have a TSL label

  You must display a TSL label when providing a small passenger service. If you do not have a TSL label, please visit your local Greenlight hub or contact support to obtain a label.

• Can I drive under a SPSL that is not my own/my company’s?

  You may only driver under a TSL label that corresponds to a SPSL either owned by you, or a company where you are a director. Otherwise you will need to use a TSL label provided to you by Uber.
