Your Holiday Season Travel Guide
Written byDid you know that, since last holiday season, Uber has grown by over 75 cities? That’s a lot of hometowns and vacation destinations where travelers can now get an affordable, accessible ride with the tap of their apps.
Whether you’re heading home or to Hawaii*, chances are high that Uber will be there waiting for you. Before takeoff, check here to see if we operate in your destination city.
*Lucky you if Hawaii is your home!
With Uber available in over 300 cities worldwide, we wanted to know which ones reigned supreme with New York riders during the holiday season. To answer our query, we looked at ride behavior between November 24, 2014 (the Monday before Thanksgiving) and Monday, January 5, 2015 (the Monday after New Year’s Eve) to determine the top 15 cities where New Yorkers jet off to most.
Curious about the number 1 city? Put it this way, New Yorkers love to party in the city where the heat is on.
1. Miami | 2. New Jersey | 3. Los Angeles |
4. San Francisco | 5. Washington, DC | 6. Boston |
7. Chicago | 8. London | 9. Philadelphia |
10. Paris | 11. Connecticut | 12. Atlanta |
13. Dallas | 14. Seattle | 15. Houston |
We know the holidays can be stressful and overwhelming—but your Uber experiences shouldn’t be. Follow these pro-tips to ensure a seamless and stress-free holiday travel season:
ESTIMATE YOUR FARE
Know before you go: Get a Fare Estimate in the app to get an idea of the cost before you jet off. In times of Surge pricing, your in-app fare estimate will account for the increased multiplier.
FARE-SPLIT
Whether you’re traveling with your girlfriends or grandma, you can always share the fare by using the Fare Split option. Looking to stash more cash away for gifts? Try uberPOOL if you’re 2 riders or less.
CONFIRM YOUR CAR
Save the surprise appearances for friends and family. Confirm your driver’s car model and license plate in the app before you hop in. And if you’re still not sure, you can always text or call your driver.
24/7 SUPPORT
You spent all that time baking (err, shopping for) the perfect treat… And then you forgot it in the car. Get in contact with your driver directly if you’ve left something behind. In your app, tap the Profile icon in the top left corner > Help > Select the trip in question > I lost an item.
