See below for what happened when the music and culinary artists got in the kitchen to cook up tonight’s dinner.

“That’s got some kick to it,” Mayer Hawthorne could be heard saying as he sampled the ingredients to Starry Kitchen’s latest recipe, Garlic Noodles with Lemongrass chicken. “Let’s pour a little honey on it. It’ll still be spicy though,” beloved founder of LA’s most popular underground supper club, Nguyen Tran assured the singer.

The two artists, connected over social media after Hawthorne discovered Starry Kitchen after its revival via UberEATS last fall.

Tran made a name for himself as the most popular Asian-fusion restaurant on Yelp–that just so happened to be an underground supper club. Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Mayer Hawthorne’s fourth full-length record, Man About Town, features “timeless, soulful, baby-making” music, with every track penned by the artist. Hawthorne kicks off Leg 1 of his Man About Town Tour tomorrow night in Santa Ana.
