Pittsburgh, this February marks two years since Uber made its debut in the Steel City. What a year! It has been full of exciting milestones including new partnerships, on-demand stunts, and economic opportunities for driver partners.

We know couldn’t have done it without you. To celebrate our time together, we’re bringing the party to you. This Friday, lucky riders will receive smiley cookies during their trip courtesy of Eat’n Park.

Now, let’s take a look at the magic we made together in year two. . .

  • Cleared For Landing. We received approval to provide seamless pickups and drop-offs at the Pittsburgh International Airport. From late nights to early flights, Uber is here to help get you wherever you need to go
  • Touchdown. We huddled up with EA SPORTS to deliver the new Madden NFL 16 for Xbox One to fans in Pittsburgh free of charge. Each ultimate prize pack was delivered by NFL Player Kelvin Beachum
  • #LetsGoBucs. Our partnership with the Pittsburgh Pirates allowed fans to get to and from the games more conveniently than ever
  • Met Our New Neighbors. In August, we moved the Pittsburgh Partner Support Center to Shadyside. Our brand new office enables us to support more driver partners. Haven’t seen our new space? Stop by 5486 Ellsworth Ave anytime! We’ll be happy to show you around
  • Pennsylvania Loves Uber. In addition to making it easier to move around the city, Uber has continued to have an economic impact. This year, we empowered more entrepreneurs, allowing them to supplement their income while enjoying the flexibility of being their own boss and setting their own schedule

  • School Is Now In Session. We’ve teamed up with some of our favorite brands to bring on-demand Uber Campus Kits—stocked with some snacks students need to survive the rest of the semester! Each Campus Kit came in its own Uber tote bag stuffed with some awesome Uber swag, Pretzel Crisps to snack on, Vita Coco to stay hydrated, and Red Bull to power through those all-nighters
  • Helped Pittsburghers Beat The Bug. We brought house calls back with UberHEALTH, delivering wellness packs full of everything you need to make it through flu season
  • #purplecar Uber partnered with UPMC Health Plan to launch #purplecar, a campaign geared towards providing a safe alternative to distracted driving. We gave free rides to new and existing users all across the city
  • Enjoy Responsibly. Uber Pittsburgh partnered with Coors Light giving riders a refreshing way to celebrate the holidays. Pittsburghers enjoyed free rides all season long courtesy of Coors Light
  • Making A Difference. In conjunction with Magee Women’s Institute, Carnegie Mellon University tested whether access to transportation contributed to a decrease in complications throughout pregnancy. The research team covered Uber rides for patients to ensure that they made it to all prenatal doctor’s appointments. After the study’s conclusion, the research team found overwhelmingly that access to transportation reduced pre birth complications. Full study to be released in the upcoming months

We’ve accomplished a lot and there’s still more to be done. Looking forward to year three!
