January is the month to plan what we want to accomplish for the rest of the year –  trips to take, books to read, and workouts to try.

Across Los Angeles and Orange County, driver-partners are fueling their 2016 resolutions by driving with Uber. Get to know these drivers and their goals for the year below.

*Words collected from the responses of  ~500 Los Angeles and Orange County Uber Driver-Partners surveyed on why they are making their 2016 New Year’s resolution to drive with Uber.

Kristina, San Pedro, CA

Kristina’s 2016 goal is to support her family and build her clientele as a licensed barber.

“A year ago I was laid off from my job but in the end it all worked out. When I was laid off I could finally pursue what I wanted to do and go full force into being a barber. But being a barber takes time. It takes time to grow your client base. I can pursue my dream while working with Uber. I don’t know if it gets any better for that.”

Michelino, San Dimas, CA

Michelino drives to help his grandchild Alessandra pay her college tuition.

“I began driving with Uber in late March to provide financial help to my grandchild Alessandra. She is attending California Baptist University in Riverside as a freshman in medical school to become a nurse and her tuition cost amounts to more than $33,500 a year. She took out a student loan which I am repaying through monthly installments with the money I make with Uber.”

Stephanie, Hawthorne, CA

Stephanie looks forward to meeting new people.

“I drive for the flexibility, for the independence, to network, to meet interesting people. And I’m driving this year to supplement the income I make as a travel agent.”
