Janice moved to Salt Lake City to study German and biology at the University of Utah. We caught up with her to find out why she rides and to talk a little about fare splitting. She’s one of the top fare-splitters in the area, so take it from an expert!

Why do you ride?

I have met amazing people while using Uber. I’ve heard fantastic stories and I’ve made friends. It’s nice when drivers have fun stories, suggestions of new places to go and how they help you to get around the city when you don’t know much about it.

What occasions do you use Uber?

I work downtown, and when I don’t have time to catch the bus, I always call an Uber. It’s so nice to have that option.

When do you use fare split?

I use it most with my roommate. We go to work together and it’s an easy way to ride without any problems.

Why use fare split?

It’s simple and fair to the people I’m riding with (and to me). Just like when you go to a restaurant with friends and you split the bill. It’s a fun way to share expenses, especially if you’re in college!

What makes you feel safe about riding with Uber?

All the drivers I’ve had have been really nice and they do their job professionally.

How has Uber changed the way you get around?

I love Uber. It’s accessible 24/7, I never have to worry that I won’t be able to get a ride wherever I need to be. It makes traveling easy and affordable.
