Throughout the year, drivers help make magic happen by providing rides, meals, and even puppies, all at the tap of a button. While driving, they often share more than their car–they share stories about where they’ve been, why they drive, and where they hope to go.

We recently launched UberWISH, a chance for riders to surprise and delight their drivers by helping turn their dreams into a reality.

In just a few days, people across Texas submitted more than 1,500 inspiring driver stories, including one about Ruan Poindexter. Ruan is a hearing-impaired Dallas/Fort Worth driver and an athlete on the USA Deaf Men’s National Volleyball team. Ruan drives on the Uber platform to earn money while he prepares for his teaching career and trains for the 2017 Deaflympics in Turkey.

We are honored to partner with drivers like Ruan who inspire and motivate us every day. The Uber Texas team looks forward to cheering on Ruan in the 2017 Deaflympics. You can follow along by visiting the Deaflympics Games website. Good luck, Team USA!
