A taste of history and community

In honor of Black History Month, UberEATS is celebrating San Francisco’s diverse culture by partnering with local chef Marco Senghor, owner and operator of Bissap Baobab. With a half French and half Senegalese background, Marco’s restaurant has always been open to everybody. “I’ve been merging cultures all my life,” he says.

Marco puts his heart into his food. It is impossible to not feel connected to his joy when enjoying his meals. On Sunday, February 26th, when you order Marco’s signature dish, Yassa, from Bissap Baobab, a majority of the proceeds* will go to Meals on Wheels–a nonprofit dedicated to providing seniors with nutritious meals and other necessities for living independent and dignified lives. Marco tells us Yassa is a “happy” dish. In Senegal, it is known as a dish for celebration or as a gift of goodwill.

“In my food, you can taste the flavors and the taste of Africa. It makes me feel proud to share the taste of my country with people of the world. We’ve always said this dish makes people happy because it’s named after a place in Senegal where it’s very green. It gets lots of rain so it has lots of flowers and trees. It’s beautiful.”

Open your UberEATS app on Sunday, February 26th between 5pm and 9pm, tap the banner featuring Bissap Baobab, and place your order to support Meals on Wheels. Don’t have the app yet? Download UberEATS now or order straight from your desktop.

*Donation to Meals on Wheels will match the amount of total sales- not including tax – of Yassa from Bissop Baobab, along with the booking fee associated with the menu item.
