In March, we pledged to create job opportunities for 1,000,000 women as drivers on the Uber platform by 2020.  We are working toward that goal everyday in each of our 300+ cities and 57 countries, and we are proud to constantly welcome new women to the Uber platform.

Last week, we held our first ever #UberDrivenWomen event here in Honolulu, uniting many of the entrepreneurs who have chosen to be their own boss on the Uber platform. As we shared pupus and stories, we were blown away by the impact these women are having on the community.

Our partners enjoyed meeting other inspirational women entrepreneurs who also drive Honolulu forward in their own way. Tiffany Tanaka, owner of Fresh Cafe graciously hosted this special gathering at her venue, and guests were also treated to a special DJ set by Christa Wittmier (SuperCW). Both Tiffany and Christa have been community leaders through their entrepreneurial ventures on Oahu for years.  They have driven the art, nightlife, music and small business scene for the past 10 years in an uplifting and positive direction. It was a special treat for our women partners to share stories with other entrepreneurs in the Hawaii community.

Thank you to all the women who make our platform work. We look forward to continuing to learn from our women partners as we drive toward meeting our job creation goals.

At Uber we know technology can be a game-changer that creates many new opportunities. Through these gatherings, we will learn more from them as we seek new ways to enhance the platform and build an even broader network of women driver-partners. We look forward to a bright future full of #UberDrivenWomen initiatives in Hawaii.

Aloha,
