Donate your Children’s Books with UberBOOKS
Written byAlong with our friends at the Miami Book Fair @MDC and Books & Books, we’ve partnered up with Read to Learn Books For Free (a program of the Children’s Trust) to collect books for Miami-Dade children.
Reading at grade level by the third grade is the leading indicator of academic success and high school graduation. Now, helping to make sure that every child in Miami has access to good books is as easy as requesting an Uber.
Read below for details on how you can request an Uber (free of charge) to pick up your new and gently-used children’s books this weekend.
- This week, collect new or gently-used children’s books for donation.
- On Saturday, November 14, open your Uber app between 11 am – 3 pm.
- Choose BOOKS at the bottom of your screen and hit request.
- A car will arrive free of charge to pick up your books and donate them to Read to Learn!
- Don’t have Uber yet? Just download the free Uber iPhone/Android/Blackberry 7 app (or sign up here with the promo code BOOKFAIR)
CAN’T DONATE ON SATURDAY?
Don’t worry! You can still drop off books at any Miami Books & Books location, or any of these Read to Learn locations, from Sunday November 15 – Wednesday December 16. (Just look for the green bins with the Read to Learn and Uber logos.)
ABOUT READ TO LEARN:
Read to Learn Books for Free is a community-wide initiative to increase the number of 3rd graders reading at or above grade level. A partnership of The Children’s Trust and Miami Book Fair @MDC, Read to Learn Books For Free encourages children and parents to read together by placing 40 bookshelves full of free books in the most under-served neighborhoods of Miami-Dade County.
