Uber Supports ‘Walk Like MADD’ Race in Pinellas County
Written byUber is honored to partner with stellar organizations like Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD) in the battle to end drunk driving. That means not only providing a safe, reliable, and affordable alternative method of transportation for Tampa Bay riders, but also taking the opportunity to support events like MADD’s “Walk Like MADD” race in Pinellas County on Saturday.
The race featured nearly 400 participants and over $41,000 was raised to help MADD eliminate drunk driving. Uber brand ambassadors were on-site passing out swag bags and free first rides to participants—and acting as a cheering section for the finishers.
“One of the most tragic things about drunk driving is the fact that it’s absolutely avoidable. There are many alternatives to getting behind the wheel after drinking,” says Christine Mitchell, general manager for Uber in Tampa Bay. “We will continue to support incredible organizations like MADD, and local events like this one, to help make Tampa Bay streets safer for everyone.
Moving forward, Uber will also be proudly supporting MADD’s annual “Tie One On for Safety” campaign this holiday season, which encourages people to show their commitment to having a designated driver by displaying a MADD red ribbon.
