The holidays mark a time to reflect, give thanks, and give back. We’re grateful for the opportunity to be a part of more than 150 communities across the United States, and we are committed to making a positive impact in each of these cities. In the spirit of the season, we are thrilled to announce our first national giving campaign, in partnership with No Kid Hungry, to help eliminate child hunger in America.

One in five children in the United States struggles with hunger, impacting their ability to learn, play and create.

No Kid Hungry connects kids in need with nutritious food, and helps families learn to cook healthy, affordable meals on tight budgets. At Uber, we are proud to be able to connect millions of Uber riders to this worthy cause through our platform.

Today, we are pledging to help drive out hunger by making a donation from Uber and raising funds this week to provide #3MillionMeals to children in need. As part of this effort—and for the first time ever—Uber riders will be able to make a $5 donation within the Uber app to support No Kid Hungry.

“Uber and No Kid Hungry are both driving change through innovation. Together, we have the ability to maximize our impact and break new ground in ending childhood hunger in America.”

— Billy Shore, founder and CEO of Share Our Strength

We are also teaming up with top tastemakers to offer users other innovative and delicious ways to contribute during the festive holiday season.

Here’s the full menu—available this week only:

STARTING TODAY

Request a ride by tapping the “DONATE” option at the bottom of your screen, and $5 will automatically be added to your trip—and go directly to No Kid Hungry. This option is available in more than 100 cities today and tomorrow, and in select cities on Thursday. For every ride taken, No Kid Hungry can connect kids to up to 50 meals.

THURSDAY

Fuel up with Uber! In select cities, we will host UberLUNCH pop ups to deliver local favorites with the help of notable chefs and popular restaurants like Michael Tusk of Cotogna in San Francisco and sweetgreen in New York. Even better, the entire amount from every lunch supports No Kid Hungry.

FRIDAY

We are ending the week with UberCHEF in some of our favorite foodie cities. Kitchensurfing, the online marketplace for chefs, along with celebrity chefs like James Beard Award Winner Tony Maws in Boston, will be on-demand to provide you and your friends a gourmet chef-prepared meal inspired by bold holiday flavors. Savor the moment because one dinner makes a big difference – every dollar goes directly to No Kid Hungry.

Access to proper nutrition is important to help kids grow and reach their full potential. We hope you will join us in supporting No Kid Hungry via the Uber app this week during the giving season. We’d also like to recognize our driver partners whose work delivering rides all across the U.S. will allow these meaningful contributions.

We’re excited to see what kind of impact we can have when the Uber community works together to make a difference.
