Uber New England Driver-Partners Win Big in Car Giveaway

Not only do they help riders get from point A to point B throughout Boston and Rhode Island, but they also help put more driver-partners on the roads by referring their friends. To thank them for this support, we held a sweepstakes to give away cash prizes and a new 2016 Hyundai Elantra! The finalists joined the Uber New England team at the Pride Hyundai dealership in Lynn, Massachusetts for the grand prize announcement.

The big winner of the evening, Emmanuel Akoto, went home with a new car. “I feel blessed. I’ve been wanting a car like this my whole life,” he shared.
The 20 finalists each have a unique and special personal story. Regardless of profession or lifestyle, they consistently praised the flexibility and reliability of the Uber platform.
“Uber simplifies the life of a guy who has children,” said Tom, a father of several children. Driving with Uber has helped Victor—and many of his friends—to stop working multiple jobs and spend more time at home with his family. Driver-partner Danny mentioned, “It’s helped a lot financially and it’s very convenient hours-wise.”
Emmanuel is a student and drives with Uber for a steady source of income. He’s particularly grateful for a trip that unexpectedly led to a student loan. “On one ride, I met a man who gave me his business card and helped me get a loan for school. It wouldn’t have happened without Uber. It was a miracle!”
Beyond the financial benefits, driving with Uber has also brought fun into the lives of these New England driver-partners. From singalongs to selfies, each has an entertaining story about driving with Uber riders. Joedson witnessed a new friendship form between two female college students on a recent uberPOOL trip in Boston. “It was awesome to be part of a new friendship,” Joedson said.
