Whether you’re looking to finally call yourself “outdoorsy” or trying to soak up some sun over the weekend, take a look at our favorite parks, climbs, and hikes to get your nature on.
Blue-Blazed Hiking Trail System
Whether you’re looking for a long hike, a trail run, or a nature walk with the kids, there are over 825 miles to explore. If you’re feeling ambitious, you can even hike your way straight into Massachusetts.
Giuffrida Park
With a 60 ft dropoff this waterfall draws crowds every year. And, the spring is the perfect time to see it, when floods of water produce a spectacular view you’ll want to bring your camera for.
Housatonic River Walk
This 4.2 mile is a uniquely flat part of the Appalachian Trail that goes from Kent to Cornwall. Get dropped off at the start and we’ll pick you up on the other side.
White Memorial Conservation Center
Head to this 4,000 acre sanctuary and take your pick from boating, camping, picnicking, and kayaking. Keep your eye out for the wildlife on your adventure, too!
Hammonasset State Beach Park
If you’re craving the sand in your toes already, take a trip here for the boardwalk and campsites, less than 30 minutes from New Haven.
Essex Steam Train and Riverboat Excursion
Go on a 12-mile, narrated trip into the heart of the Connecticut River Valley. Make a day of it and go on the boat and train ride combination tour.
