The holiday season is well underway, and with it comes family, friends, and festivities. But it can also be a dangerous time of the year, with people toasting and celebrating, and then getting behind the wheel.

In fact, between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve in 2014, in the U.S., 945 lives were lost in drunk driving crashes.

That’s why we’re teaming up with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to encourage people in the DMV—and beyond—to use a safe, reliable alternative to getting behind the wheel. And we find our driver-partners share this same commitment of helping to keep drunk drivers off the road.

MEET DRIVER-PARTNER RICHARD WATSON

RichardAs a retired Maryland State Trooper, Richard spent his career removing intoxicated drivers from the roads. Today, he continues this same mission by partnering with Uber and providing his community with safe rides home.

“I saw first hand the need for getting intoxicated drivers away from driving on our roads. Being an Uber driver-partner is a rewarding way to be of help to people in my area. This sensible alternative is a fantastic concept and I enjoy being able to provide a needed service.”
